May/June/July 2020 Engineering and Construction- Management Career Pathway
We took a data-driven approach to identify good-paying jobs that are in high demand and will lead to rewarding professional careers. our analysis used the forecasted job supply and demand data for SWFL from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. Construction management was one of the professional career pathways identified that had a high growth rate and paid family-supporting wages. in SWFL, there are 7,000 supervisory jobs growing at nearly 4% per year, with median salaries ranging from $55k/yr to $75k/yr. These jobs do not require a bachelors degree but do require technical and professional skills training beyond that typically provided with a high school diploma. Working with iTECH, BCB Homes, and Collier Enterprises, The Immokalee Foundation developed a high school curriculum to prepare students to enter the construction management profession.
