The Moorings: Location & History
The Moorings is a centrally located neighborhood in the City of Naples. It stretches from US 41 to the Gulf of Mexico and is nestled between Park Shore to the north and Olde Naples to the south. The location offers some of the most luxurious single family and condominium properties in the Naples area.
This was one of the first communities built in early Naples. In 1957, with backing from a wealthy Cuban entrepreneur named Julio Lobo, developer Milton Link bought the first of six sections of land along the Gulf of Mexico for The Moorings. Much of it was a swamp, partly submerged and partly occupied by deer, rattlesnakes and other wildlife, and it required dredging before it could be developed.
The Moorings would eventually grow into a community of more than 1,300 acres with nearly 4,000 homes and low- and high-rise condominiums. Several of the co-op buildings and condos date back to the 1950s. Although many of the homes were built in previous decades, most have now been replaced with magnificent new construction homes.
The Moorings: Amenities
The Moorings was the first development in Naples to have its own beach and its own golf course. Known for excellent Gulf and beach access, many of the homesites are waterfront with boat docks and spectacular views. Residents enjoy access to their own private beach on Gulf Shore Blvd.
